Three Chart Mistakes That Distort Rotation Reads
Mixing timeframes on one panel, ignoring volume context, and chasing lagging sectors — patterns we see in every new cohort.
Every new workshop cohort repeats a handful of errors. Naming them early saves weeks of misread panels.
Mixing timeframes
Drawing a daily trend line on a weekly printout creates false breaks. If you need daily detail, use a separate daily page for that single symbol — never overlay both on one panel.
Ignoring volume on breakouts
A sector line can pierce resistance on thin holiday volume. We ask traders to note weekly volume beneath each panel. A leadership claim without volume confirmation gets a question mark in the margin until the next print.
Chasing the lagging catch-up
When leaders extend, laggards often bounce for a week and look tempting. Relative strength lines usually show the bounce as a lower high against the leader. Mark it, do not trade it unless your rules explicitly cover mean-reversion setups.
